The Snakes of Ireland
Saint Patrick is most known for driving the snakes from Ireland. A quintessential symbol of fertility and renewal, the snake has long been associated with Goddess worship. Driving the snakes from Ireland was probably symbolic of trying to put an end to Pagan practices. While not the first to bring Christianity to Ireland, it is Patrick who is said to have encountered the Druids at Tara and abolish their pagan rites.
