Venus of Willendorf - Earth Goddess | Fertility Goddess Symbolism
The Venus of Willendorf is considered one of the oldest depictions of the Great Earth Fertility Goddess. Dated between 30,000 and 25,000 BC, The 'Venus of Willendorf' is the name that was given to a female figurine that was found in 1908 by an archeologist named Joseph Szombathy in a Aurignacian loess deposit near the town of Willendorf in Austria. -- As one scholar has described her : She 'exhibits... a physical and sexual self that seems unrestrained, unfettered by cultural taboos and social conventions. She is an image of "natural" femaleness, of uninhibited female power.'
Overall Leather Focal Pendant Measurement ~32mm (just a smidge over 1-1/4"). Necklace is crafted of Waxed Cotton and is slide-knot adjustable from 14-inches up to 30-inches. Eco-friendly dyes and sealants are always used.
