Dumortierite is composed of dense fibers, giving it a tough durability. Dumortierite is named after French paleontologist Eugene Dumortier (1803-1873). The 'Mother Stone' these slabs were cut from comes from Brazil.

Metaphysically, Dumortierite is called the Stone of Patience, said to offer the energies of self-discipline. Often used to enhance organizational abilities and orderliness of the body, mind and spirit, and to help to settle a scattered mind. Chakras : Throat, 3rd Eye and Crown.
