Obsidian is a naturally occurring volcanic glass formed as an extrusive igneous rock. Glass Butte Obsidian, Lassen Creek Obsidian and Davis Creek Obsidian are considered the best Obsidian from the US. This type of Black Obsidian contains the partial crystallisation mineral, Cristobalite, that forms gray to white snowflake crystal patterns - hence it's name. - This Snowflake Obsidian comes from Utah (USA).

Metaphysically, Snowflake Obsidian is sometimes called the 'Book of Laws Stone' by American Indians, who considered it a guardian to the Great Spirit and of their civilizations in general. It is also considered a powerful psychic talisman that Shamans carry often.
