CARNELIAN - Carnelian Agate (sometimes referred to as Cornelian) is found primarily in India, as well as various sites in South America and here in our own state of Arizona. Carnelian is a translucent orange to red to brown form of Chalcedony. It is frequently a banded material with natural colors of red to orange chalcedony alternating with other colors of agate. In Ancient Egypt, Carnelian was associated with the heart, and the resurrection of mummies. In the Middle Ages, it was used for protection against nightmares, mind-readers, and lightning. Today, Carnelian is often used by crystal healers for reproductive issues, as a stone of action -- giving one courage and confidence to move forward on a new path in life; and is also used to improve ones more 'amorous' (carnal) side.
