Some More Info About the Gemstone : Carnelian Beads | Cornelian Beads. Carnelian (also sometimes referred to as Cornelian) is found primarily in India, as well as various sites in South America. Carnelian is a translucent orange to red to brown form of Chalcedony. It is frequently a banded material with bands of red to orange chalcedony alternating with bands of white agate. In Ancient Egypt, Carnelian was referred to as 'The Setting Sun' and was associated with the the fertile menstrual blood of the mother goddess (Isis), the heart, and resurrection of mummies. In the Middle Ages, it was used for protection against nightmares, mind-readers, and lightning. Today, Carnelian is often used by crystal healers for reproductive issues, and is believed to improve ones more 'amorous' (carnal) side.
