Snowflake Obidian is sometimes called the "Book of Laws Stone" by American Indians, who considered it a guardian to the Great Spirit and of their civilizations in general. Like flakes of snow floating against a deep black sky, the snowflake appearance in this volcanic glass was produced when internal crystallites formed as lava quickly cooled.
